HISD Energy Services Contract (ESCO)
Houston, TX

Houston Independent School District (HISD) is the largest public school system in Texas, and the seventh largest in the United States. ATI partnered with United Technologies Carrier to perform MEP and energy services with the goal of using operating savings and rebates to fund capital improvements planned for seventeen (17) facilities in the Houston area.

The ESCO program for HISD was based on Houston Power & Light’s Commercial Cool Storage Program, intended for reducing customer’s on-peak electric demand by shifting the operation of electric cooling equipment to off-peak hours.

This project features the addition of over 34,000 ton-hours of ice and chilled water thermal storage systems, and the installation of nearly 2,500 tons of chiller capacity in the facilities. ATI’s scope of services included the creation of energy model and conservation measure comparisons (lighting, air-conditioning, controls) for each facility.
