Ahmad, Zavitsanos, and Anaipakos (AZA), a law firm located on the 34th floor of 2 Houston Center in downtown Houston, TX, expanded its corporate offices and enhanced the appearance of the lobby, boardroom, and partners’ offices in the summer of 2001.
New lighting and controls improve the aesthetics and functionality of the main lobby and boardroom areas, and highlight various pieces of artwork and statues throughout their area. The architectural centerpiece of the 7,500-sf space is a 12-foot, “floating” granite and travertine wall separating the lobby from the executive boardroom. The 13,500-lb wall is surrounded on three sides by a 12-inch-wide, glass, and is supported by steel, tubular angle-iron structure that allows less than 1/16” deflection in any direction.
ATI provided MEP and Lighting Design Services, while ATI-CM, Inc. was contracted to manage the project. The space programming was by Ziegler Cooper Architects, and Koppinos Interiors provided interior design services.
