Located in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) is an operations center for Shell Malaysia. In partnership with Halliburton, ATI-CM, Inc. was contracted in 2005 to design and build the region’s first 24-hour Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC). The 375 m2 (4,000 ft2) RTOC was built surrounding SSB’s existing 3D visualization center.
The new RTOC consists of a 24-hour control center and collaboration center, a reception and lounge area, and two tight-hole conference facilities. ATI-CM’s Houston-based A/E team designed the space to utilize SSB’s existing UPS infrastructure. The existing HVAC system was reconfigured to provide a redundant chilled-water and direct-expansion 24-hour controlled environment. The facility was built by SSB’s local Malaysian contractors and was managed by ATI-CM’s on-site personnel.
