UTMB John Sealy Annex - Life Safety Schematic Design
Galveston, Texas
ATI was commissioned by Turner Partners Architects, LP to provide MEP planning and schematic design necessary to correct life safety code deficiencies for John Sealy Annex, a 12-story medical building at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.
The scope included an analysis/assessment of the existing facility MEP infrastructure(s), preparation of a list of priority needs to correct life safety deficiencies, and identification of options and corresponding design schematics, including a construction budget estimate, construction phasing, and timing of phased construction. Life safety recommendations include common path of travel revisions, modifications to fire-rated construction, installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems, and modifications to the hospitals emergency power and fire pump systems to accommodate the design solutions.
