Opry Mills Aquarium
Nashville, Tennessee

ATI provided MEP design for a Landry’s conceptual restaurant and aquarium at Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, Tennessee.  The restaurant features a 200,000-gallon central aquarium, with several smaller tanks around the restaurant.

The challenge was creating the complex infrastructure required to house and maintain the aquatics in a space designed to be a retail mall. Special cooling, dehumidification systems, odor control, aquarium lighting systems, and aquarium tank environmental controls and cooling systems were among the many unique design features included in the design.

The main aquarium tank displays exotic creatures from as far away as Fiji and the Red Sea, including several breeds of shark. The restaurant seats 400, and cost approx. $25M to build (including aquarium environmental support systems).
