Houston, Texas
Magic Earth, a company specializing in volume-visualization and interpretation technology, commissioned ATI to develop a state-of-the-art visualization center to provide an optimal immersion environment for developing their software. The center includes a dome-shaped, "pod"-type structure with a 10-ft cylindrical, concave screen. Multiple projectors provide computer-generated images on the screen.
ATI designed Magic Earth’s 15,000-sf corporate offices, visualization work areas, and collaboration areas; UPS and harmonic mitigating power systems; and Data/LAN center for the new software company. Stand-alone, redundant air-distribution and central plant with DDC control conditions the data center and visualization work area. The lighting includes general and aesthetic lighting for the offices, and custom, lighting/dimming systems inside the visualization center. ATI-CM, Inc. was the construction manager for the project.
