CPC Kingwood Generator
Houston, Texas

The Kingwood Technology Center (KTC) is a petrochemical research campus for Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPC) Company LP. Located in a residential area northeast of Houston, the facility routinely experiences extended outages and brownouts; inspiring the need for a new 2-MW generator, fuel system, and related controls.

Closed-transition, synchronization gear (3000A) allows the generator to synchronize and parallel with the utility to provide uninterruptible power to the campus 24/7. Power is transferred from the utility to the generator, and back to the utility without interruption to the end-user. This closed-transition, synchronization system is the first commercial installation in the Reliant Energy service area.
